Baseball Recap: Triton Sets Scoring Season-High Against E.E. Smith

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Triton). They put the hurt on the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls with a sharp 16-1 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Golden Bulls: they've now won eight in a row.

Alan Hinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Rhett Alphin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Chase Sewell was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brayden Bates, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Triton's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-3. As for E.E. Smith, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Triton will square off against Cape Fear at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cape Fear is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. As for E.E. Smith, they will face off against Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seventy-First has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.83 runs per game on average), something E.E. Smith will no doubt try to take advantage of.
