On Friday, the Philip Scotties were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 67-63 to the Freeman Flyers. Freeman found their leader in sophomore Cadence Hofer, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and eight boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hofer has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Peters, who earned 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Philip has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Freeman, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philip will challenge Harding County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freeman, they will take on Ethan at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Freeman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
