Baseball Recap: Pocatello Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Pocatello was forced to take a big loss against they on Wednesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Preston Indians. This was a revenge game for the Thunder: when they faced off against the Indians on Wednesday, they had to take a 12-1 defeat.

KACHE STUCKI was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Pocatello: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-12 otherwise.

In other pitching news, JETT MECHLING looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

Back at the plate, NOAH NEWSOM and TYLER ADAMS did most of the damage at the plate: NEWSOM went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while ADAMS got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That double was ADAMS' first of the season.

Pocatello's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-13. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Preston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Pocatello wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-6 win against Madison on the 19th. As for Preston, they have also already played their next game, an 18-0 loss against Marsh Valley on the 19th.
