There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Lakeland's junior Demarkcus Bowman, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It isn't too difficult to come out on top when you enjoy a 384-yard edge over your opponent, and Trinity Christian Academy had just that last week. It breezed past Oakleaf with a final score of 51 - 22. Senior Marcus Crowley deserves a lot of the credit as he ran for 294 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. With seven consecutive wins, Trinity Christian Academy boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between St. Thomas Aquinas (2nd in the power rankings) and Deerfield Beach (8th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. St. Thomas Aquinas took its game against Deerfield Beach by a confident 38 - 6 score. St. Thomas Aquinas did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps national rankings indicated.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between American Heritage (6th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Cardinal Gibbons (30th). This will be the second home game in a row for American Heritage. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
