Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 20 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact the Manchester Squires proved on Saturday. They secured a 50-45 W over North Miami. The win made it back-to-back wins for Manchester.
Manchester found their leader in underclassman Emma Walker, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Walker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Ream, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, North Miami had strong showings from Laney Musall, who scored 23 points along with two steals, and Kaiden Hanley, who scored nine points along with six steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Musall has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kayden Donaldson, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Manchester's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for North Miami, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester will take on Peru at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Peru focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday. As for North Miami, they will play host again and welcome Lewis Cass, where tip off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Lewis Cass presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Miami in Indiana (Lewis Cass is ranked 77th, while North Miami is ranked 223rd).
