Softball Recap: Harlan's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Harlan dropped their record down to 16-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Green Dragons of the 9-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Addison Jackson and Ella Farley did some serious damage despite the final result: Jackson went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Farley went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Farley has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Lisenbee, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Hazard, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

On Hazard's side, Braylynn Eddington was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Eddington has posted since back in April. Mallory Combs also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harlan will head out to challenge Letcher County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hazard, they will venture away from home to take on Pike County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
