The Geneva Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Montgomery Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Geneva beat Bullock County 30-20.
Montgomery Academy never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Slocomb last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Red Tops 53-20 at home. The win was a breath of fresh air for Montgomery Academy as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Montgomery Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chance Wilson, who rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 34 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Wilson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Will Hardin also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Geneva's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Montgomery Academy, their win also bumped their record up to an identical 3-6.
Geneva was dealt a bruising 40-13 loss at the hands of Montgomery Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Geneva avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
