If the Del Campo Cougars were feeling good off their 81-43 takedown of the Amador Buffaloes last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Del Campo took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Camino on Friday. Del Campo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as El Camino apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Del Campo's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dean Snow, who scored 12 points. Niko Wedderburn was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead El Camino to victory, but perhaps none more so than Demetrious Perry, who scored 23 points along with three steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Watts, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Del Campo has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for El Camino, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-11.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Rio Americano the next time they take the court. Del Campo will head out to face Rio Americano at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while El Camino will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
