They were able to grind out a solid win over Kings Mountain on Friday, winning 56-49. The game went into 7 overtimes with 13 TD's combined. During regulation there were only 2 TD's combined. Yes, you read that final score correctly. And yes, they were playing football.
junior Paul Neel had a stellar game for Charlotte Catholic as he rushed for 123 yards and four TDs on 34 carries. Neel has made a name for himself in Charlotte Catholic's last 11 games, proving himself to be a reliable offensive weapon. Not surprisingly, Neel's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season. sophomore Harrison Barnett also deserves a shout-out for his three TDs.
The victory (their ninth in a row) raised the Cougars' record to 11-3. The defeat dropped Kings Mountain's record to 12-3.
The Cougars will face off against Southern Nash in a playoff matchup next week. Kings Mountain's playoff loss brings an end to their season.
