The Neumann Celtics are taking a road trip to face off against the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neumann is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Neumann had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Golden Gate on Tuesday. The Celtics blew past the Titans 16-5. The Celtics might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Cecilia Spencer was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Sophia Escobar was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Neumann always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for LaBelle's offense. They came up short against Evangelical Christian on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The Cowboys/Cowgirls' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Neumann's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for LaBelle, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
LaBelle's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Neumann has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for LaBelle, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Neumann keep running through batters, or will the Cowboys/Cowgirls buck the trend?
Neumann might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from LaBelle in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Celtics avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
