The Copper Hills Grizzlies will venture away from home to face off against the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Copper Hills comes in on three and Pleasant Grove on five.
Copper Hills saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Fremont.
Kennedy Jennings was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Dulce-Liliani Moreno was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Janie Coats also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Copper Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fremont only posted a batting average of .320.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over Taylorsville.
Keslie Draney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Pleasant Grove got a massive performance out of Maile Larsen, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Larsen has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Parry, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Copper Hills, their record is now 4-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Copper Hills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .453. However, it's not like Pleasant Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .518. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Copper Hills suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Pleasant Grove in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can Copper Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
