The John Milledge Academy Trojans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They managed a 27-22 win over First Presbyterian Day. That's another feather in the cap for John Milledge Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Javian Butts continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 35 receiving yards. Butts is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Kolt McMichael was another key contributor, throwing for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jakhari Williams, who threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns. Carter Hays also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
John Milledge Academy's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-4 Stratford Academy and 9-4 Brentwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.7% over those games). As for First Presbyterian Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Milledge Academy will face off against Mount de Sales Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mount de Sales Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for First Presbyterian Day, they will head out on the road to face off against Tattnall Square Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Tattnall Square Academy is ranked 234th, while First Presbyterian Day is ranked 217th).
