On Tuesday, the Orem Tigers faced the Timpview Thunderbirds in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Orem strolled past Timpview with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. The win was familiar territory for Orem who now have five in a row.
Orem's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jax Allen, who scored 14 points along with eight assists. That's the first time this season that Allen posted eight or more assists. Asher Young was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Timpview's loss came despite strong showings from Dean Rueckert and Aisa Galea'i. Rueckert scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Galea'i scored ten points.
Orem pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orem will take on Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Timpview, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Maple Mountain at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Maple Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
