After both having extra time off, the Loudon Redskins and the Silverdale Academy Seahawks will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Loudon has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Silverdale Academy will arrive with 14 straight wins.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Loudon had to settle for a 44-42 loss against Sequoyah. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Loudon in their matchups with Sequoyah: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, even though Ezell-Harding Christian scored an imposing 56 points last Saturday, Silverdale Academy still came out on top. Silverdale Academy took their game against Ezell-Harding Christian 66-56. Given Silverdale Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Ezell-Harding Christian is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silverdale Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kennedy Okpara, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Okpara is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Wright, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Loudon's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Silverdale Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-0.
