In what's become a running theme this season, the Greater Vision Academy Lions gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They breezed by Sheets Memorial Christian at home to the tune of 91-20. While fans of Greater Vision Academy might be used to big wins, the 71-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Greater Vision Academy had a senior duo take command as Greysen McCadden dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists and Johntez Raspberry almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that McCadden posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Jack Twomey, who scored 18 points along with two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Sheets Memorial Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jude Howell scored 12 points along with three steals. Howell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Sheets Memorial Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Greater Vision Academy pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Greater Vision Academy's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.8 points per game. As for Sheets Memorial Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.
Greater Vision Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sheets Memorial Christian, they and Raleigh Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sheets Memorial Christian is facing Raleigh Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Raleigh Christian Academy is stuck on a eight-game losing streak.
