St. John's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mickey Zheng, who scored 11 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The matchup was Zheng's third in a row with at least ten points. alyssa cevera was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Lakeside's win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-6. As for St. John, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Lakeside will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Grand Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. St. John will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Edgewood at 6:45 p.m. on December 28th.
