The Math Civics & Sciences Mighty Elephants are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at 7:50 p.m. on December 27th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Math Civics & Sciences had just enough and edged Holy Cross out 51-48. Given Math Civics & Sciences' advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 91st in Pennsylvania, while Holy Cross is ranked 328th in New York), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Math Civics & Sciences' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Milak Myatt, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Robinson, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas beat Albany Academy for Boys 63-54 on Tuesday.
St. Thomas Aquinas found their leader in underclassman Kellson (KJ) Sandi, who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 0 assists. That's the first time this season that Sandi scored 15 or more points. Ayden (AJ) Ambrose was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Math Civics & Sciences' victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
