Valley is a perfect 3-0 against Weld Central since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Vikings will welcome the Rebels at 11:00 a.m. Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Valley is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since May 7, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Platte Valley 3-2.
Seth Kissler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Valley's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alfonso Medina, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 6-11 otherwise. Trent Mestas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Weld Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-5 to University.
Pierce Thoene made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ross Phelps, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Weld Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Weld Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Valley took their win against Weld Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
