Hi-Plains recap September 24, 2013
Meade was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in Hi-Plains. Earlier in the week, the Buffaloes triumphed over Southwestern Heights 49-0.
The Mustangs fell to Meade 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Efrain Chavez was a bright spot for Southwestern Heights, as he ran for 26 yards in the loss.
Elkhart's dynamic duo of Alex Gomez and Juston Hurn proved tough for Lakin to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gomez threw for 447 yards and 7 touchdowns and Hurn had 268 yards receiving. AJ Mckinley helped Elkhart's passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 173 yards.

Gomez put up the best numbers through the air as Elkhart topped Lakin.
Hurn was the best wideout in the league this week as Khris Buckner's team topped Jeff Fuss' team.
He was 17-31 with 0 interception.
Jesus Garcia was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 125 yards as Satanta beat the Broncs. Teammate Adrian Longoria added to the ground attack by rushing for 78 yards.
Hurn had a great week catching the football as Elkhart topped Lakin.
The Wildcats' Gomez and Hurn have formed a dream team this season, leading Hi-Plains in both passing and receiving yards. Gomez has thrown for 892 yards this season, while Hurn, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 19 catches for 549 yards. Jett Little from Scott Moshier's team leads the league in rushing with 402 yards.
As it stands, the Buffaloes are in fourth, while Cimarron is in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Meade takes on the Bluejays. The Buffaloes have allowed 34 points this season, while Cimarron has given up 29. Meade allowed 0 points last week as it bested Matt Scripsick's team.
Elkhart made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,448 from 7,690. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 47-35 victory over the Broncs last week.
