The Linganore Lancers suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of North Hagerstown by a score of 61-58. Linganore was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Hagerstown apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Petruzzello, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brandon Donaldson, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Linganore struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Hagerstown pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
North Hagerstown was led to victory by Brady Walters and Landon Somerville. Walters dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds, while Somerville scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Walters has scored at least a third of North Hagerstown's points. Will Bonds was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Linganore's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for North Hagerstown, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Linganore will face off against Urbana at TBD on Tuesday. One thing working in Urbana's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for North Hagerstown, they will head out on the road to take on Tuscarora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tuscarora comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
