The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Hilton Head Christian Academy has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Bethesda Academy will arrive with eight straight victories.
Hilton Head Christian Academy suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Hampton County by a score of 67-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Monday (63), Hilton Head Christian Academy still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Hilton Head Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Harrison Skinner scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Skinner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Qayden Turner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bethesda Academy put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 78-22 victory over Cross Schools at home. Given Bethesda Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 139th in Georgia, while Cross Schools is ranked 290th in South Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hilton Head Christian Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Bethesda Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Hilton Head Christian Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bethesda Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory.
