Softball Recap: Central Has No Trouble Against Cordova

With a playoff win on the line, Central rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Cordova Blue Devils with a sharp 13-1 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won 21 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Paislee Ticer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Devyn Green and Sadie Miles did most of the damage at the plate: Green went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Miles went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits Miles has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Lawson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cordova only posted an OBP of .333.

Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 38-14. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cordova, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 29-17.

As of now, neither Central nor the Blue Devils have any future games scheduled.
