The team also got some help courtesy of  Addi Shannon, who  scored a  run while going 3-for-4.
 Gretna East  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mercy only posted  an  OBP of  .263.
 Meanwhile, Northwest faced Crete in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Northwest never let Crete onto the board and left with  a   10-0  win. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
 Gretna East's victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 15-11. As for Northwest, their win was  their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 21-1.
