Twin Falls is 8-2 against Wood River since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. Twin Falls knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Wood River likes a good challenge.
Twin Falls is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Jerome just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 14-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bruins have suffered since May 18, 2024.
Kenzie Hudson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Fowler, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Wood River waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since April 11th.
The team relied heavily on Amalia Boyle, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hadley Elsbree, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Wood River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.
Wood River pushed their record up to 11-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Twin Falls, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 12-10.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Twin Falls has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Wood River struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Twin Falls' way against Wood River in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Twin Falls made off with a 17-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
