The Pahranagat Valley Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Wells Leopards on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 28-27 to the Leopards. Pahranagat Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wells apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Roxi Hughes and Sidnee Spencer certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hughes scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, while Spencer scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds. Hughes scored a full 29.6% of Pahranagat Valley's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Wells can attribute much of their success to Lillian Harney, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Harney is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Callie Brodsho, who scored 9 points.
Pahranagat Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Wells, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Pahranagat Valley is on the road again on Saturday and play against Owyhee at 9:30 a.m. on December 2nd. As for Wells, they will square off against GV Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. GV Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
