Imperial Valley recap September 10, 2013
Central moved up to 500 from 647 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Imperial Valley. The Spartans were able to make move up by besting Gila Ridge 42-0.
Calexico took down Desert Mirage 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Diego Moreno threw for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.
Royce Freeman was a passing and rushing force as Imperial defeated Yuma. Freeman's favorite target this week was DaJon Staton, who caught 8 passes for 104 yards.
Moreno put up the best numbers through the air as the Bulldogs beat Desert Mirage. Moreno's favorite target this week was Gilbert Gastelum, who caught 2 passes for 41 yards.
Freeman was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 194 yards on 9 carries as the Tigers bested the Criminals. Teammate Chris Carter added to the ground attack by rushing for 40 yards.
Staton was the best receiver in the league this week as Imperial defeated Yuma.
An important game coming up in Imperial Valley this week will be when Southwest takes on Southwest. As it stands, the Raiders are in sixth, while the Eagles are in sixth.
Calexico led the league in scoring this week after putting up 51 points on Jeffrey Tebelak's team. Moreno during the win.
