Softball Game Preview: Sewickley Academy vs. Bishop Canevin Crusaders

Sewickley Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Bishop Canevin since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Sewickley Academy will challenge Bishop Canevin at 4:00 p.m. Sewickley Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Sewickley Academy barely beat Rochester the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Sewickley Academy was the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Rochester on Friday. While Sewickley Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-5), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Charlotte Andrews (2028) made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Sewickley Academy got a massive performance out of Quincy Sirko (2025), who scored three runs and stole seven bases while going 3-for-4. Sirko (2025) also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sanaa Grant (2026), who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Sewickley Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Bishop Canevin's offense. They lost 20-0 to Union Area on Friday. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Scotties recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Sewickley Academy pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Bishop Canevin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Sewickley Academy took their victory against Bishop Canevin when the teams last played back in April of 2016 by a conclusive 19-4 score. Does Sewickley Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bishop Canevin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
