The Lincoln Prep Lightning will head out on the road to face off against the Anthem Prep Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
Lincoln Prep's 18-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were dealt a 66-20 defeat at the hands of Joseph City on Saturday. Lincoln Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-6.
Meanwhile, Anthem Prep was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Sequoia Pathway Academy 55-27 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Anthem Prep.
Among those leading the charge was Amanda Gandolfo, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Anthem Prep's points. Another player making a difference was Madi Hatfield, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Lincoln Prep to 1-2 and Joseph City to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln Prep against Anthem Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 64-19 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
