LaBrae hasn't had much luck against Champion recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Golden Flashes at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
LaBrae's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Crestview 10-0. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won four in a row.
The result came thanks to Riley Rowe's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Leah DeArmitt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Vada Allen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Champion came out on top against Berea-Midpark on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Golden Flashes put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 11-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Flashes sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Gabrielle Gradishar was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adalyn McIntosh, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddison Sylvester, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Champion was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive contests.
LaBrae's record is now 18-4. As for Champion, their record now sits at 16-3.
LaBrae might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Champion in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
