The Union City Indians will square off against the Seton Catholic Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Union City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Monroe Central 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Lutz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Jayson Connor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Union City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-2 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brayden Huggins, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Union City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monroe Central only managed three hits.
Seton Catholic hadn't beaten Randolph Southern on the road since May 26, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Cardinals came out on top against the Rebels by a score of 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.
Tyson Tremain spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Seton Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taeon Tate, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Union City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Seton Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Union City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seton Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Union City's way against Seton Catholic in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Union City made off with a 23-3 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
