The Gulfport Admirals will head out on the road to square off against the D'Iberville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Gulfport's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Biloxi 35-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Admirals, who have now won five matchups in a row.
Cooper Crosby had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 130 yards and two scores on only nine carries, while also picking up 59 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards. Another player making a difference was Parker Nettles, who threw for 192 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.1% of his passes.
Gulfport didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Biloxi to a completion percentage of just 45.5%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Andre Peters, Tyrell Seals, and Jayonne Pollard, who each logged one passes deflected. Gulfport has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.64 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.64 in their last three games.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for D'Iberville against St. Martin last Friday as the squad secured a 46-10 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won seven in a row.
Gulfport better keep an eye on Jordan Walley. He was instrumental in D'Iberville's win, throwing for 301 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes, while also rushing for 89 yards and one score. Those four passing touchdowns gave Walley a new career-high. Christian Butler also helped with two TDs in total.
Gulfport's record now sits at 6-2. As for D'Iberville, their record is now 7-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Gulfport has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like D'Iberville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 244.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Gulfport strolled past D'Iberville when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 38-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Admirals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
