The Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes are taking a road trip to take on the Agape Christian Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Zeigler-Royalton put up the most points they have all season on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Woodlawn with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Tornadoes have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Cole made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Aidan Skropka was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bradden Mays, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.
Zeigler-Royalton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodlawn only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Agape Christian was not the first on the board last Monday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Carrier Mills-Stonefort as Agape Christian made off with a 17-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Aiden Bullock and Jonah Seals made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bullock pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Seals tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Bullock scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Seals scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jacob Miller was a standout: he scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Dillon, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Agape Christian pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Zeigler-Royalton, their record now sits at 6-1.
Everything went Zeigler-Royalton's way against Agape Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Zeigler-Royalton made off with an 11-3 victory. Does Zeigler-Royalton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Agape Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
