The Washington-Wilkes Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Warren County Screaming Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington-Wilkes will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while Warren County is ranked 137th).
Washington-Wilkes suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lake Oconee Academy by a score of 35-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Washington-Wilkes in their matchups with Lake Oconee Academy: they've now lost nine in a row.
In what's become a running theme this season, Warren County gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 56-28 win over Jasper County at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Warren County has posted since December 12, 2023.
Warren County found their leader in underclassman Courtney Bray, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Bray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alecia Tucker, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and eight steals.
Washington-Wilkes has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Warren County, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Washington-Wilkes came up short against Warren County when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 49-43. Thankfully for Washington-Wilkes, Lekerria Wheeler (who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
