The Eagle Mountain Knights will face off against the Springtown Porcupines at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eagle Mountain 3.6, Springtown 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Eagle Mountain is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Sanger just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 13-7. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this game were averaging 3.63 runs allowed.
Payton Soriano was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Zoe Hawthorne was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Springtown waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 10-6.
Harmony Flores and Addyson Fyffe did most of the damage at the plate: Flores went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Fyffe went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Flores has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Makinze Nation, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Springtown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Springtown's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Eagle Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Springtown struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle Mountain couldn't quite get it done against Springtown in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 4-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
