The Arcadia Titans will head out to square off against the St. Mary's Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
Things were looking good for Arcadia after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Centennial, falling 18-7.
Arcadia got a big performance out of Sydney Kelley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Dreier, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Arcadia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. This was only their first loss (out of eight games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's didn't have quite enough to beat Marcos de Niza on Thursday and fell 6-5.
St. Mary's also got a good showing from Meredith Schager, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Analysa Mejia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kimber Milstead, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Arcadia's record is now 8-7-1. As for St. Mary's, their record now sits at 8-7.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arcadia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like St. Mary's struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Arcadia's way against St. Mary's in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Arcadia made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arcadia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
