Newton lost against Fairfield on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 2-0 to the Mules. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Newton was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-18.

Hydi Bierman paced Newton's offense, picking up six kills. Bierman got some help from Amy Shull and her seven assists.

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Fairfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Newton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Edwards County on the 11th. As for Fairfield, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against McCracken County on the 12th.
