Mesquite is 7-0 against Arcadia since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mesquite Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Arcadia Titans at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Mesquite focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Mesquite put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season. Everything went their way against Saguaro as Mesquite made off with a 62-36 victory. Given Mesquite's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Saguaro is ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Navae Guidry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Pippa Krieger, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Arcadia suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-41 walloping at the hands of St. Mary's. Arcadia has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mesquite is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Arcadia, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-11.
Everything came up roses for Mesquite against Arcadia in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 75-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mesquite since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
