This season hasn't been kind to The SouthLake Christian Academy , who are still winless after their ninth game. They suffered a rough 47-27 loss at the hands of Asheville Christian Academy on Friday. SouthLake Christian Academy lost against Asheville Christian Academy in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-30 score last time.
Austin Williams and Tyson Williams certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Williams picked up 210 receiving yards, while Williams threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Williams' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Javier Rice was his usual excellent self, throwing for 446 yards and six touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Rice is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Holmes, who picked up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Asheville Christian Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. SouthLake Christian Academy's QB won't forget Peyton Raby anytime soon given Raby sacked him five times.
SouthLake Christian Academy's defeat was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Trinity Christian and 9-2 Hickory Grove Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63% over those games). As for Asheville Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
SouthLake Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Asheville Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Asheville Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
