Leyton extended the longest winning streak in D2 District 10 (8 Man) this week by beating Potter-Dix, 50-38. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Warriors.
The Coyotes' dynamic duo of Luke Johnson and Kyle Gorsuch proved tough for Leyton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johnson threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns and Gorsuch had 125 yards receiving. Anthony Vahlbusch helped Potter-Dix's passing attack out by catching five balls for 57 yards.
Sam Schumacher was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 102 yards as Glen Lipska's team lost to Glen Lipska's team. Teammate Dylan Brenner added to the ground attack by rushing for 26 yards.
Joe Martin/Dale Frerichs' team's Johnson and Brady Knigge have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 1968 yards this season, while Knigge, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 37 catches for 681 yards. The Warriors' Schumacher leads the league in rushing yards with 791.
The Coyotes' Johnson is within 32 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Hay Springs.
A big matchup in D2 District 10 (8 Man) this week will be when Potter-Dix takes on the Hawks. The Coyotes are in second place, while Hay Springs is in third place.
Allen Mintzmeyer's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on Crawford.
