Two dominant backs in Antwoin Mebane and Derek Garcia are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Navarro Panthers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Sinton Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Navarro: 18.1, Sinton: 17.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Navarro walked away with it. They took down the Tarpons 29-13 on Friday.
Navarro's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mack Berry, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Sinton came tearing into Friday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 45-35 win over Lago Vista. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Their wins bumped Navarro to 9-3 and Port Isabel to 9-3.
Navarro won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, slipping by Sinton 29-28. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Sinton's Rene Galvan, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 68 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Navarro to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
