After both having extra time off, the Cromwell/Portland Panthers and the Rocky Hill Terriers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cromwell/Portland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 41.9 points per game this season.
Things were looking good for Cromwell/Portland after they put the first points on the board last Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 33-29 to Rockville. The Panthers were up 29-14 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Cromwell/Portland might have lost, but man, Michael Sitaro Jr. was a machine: he rushed for 97 yards and two scores, and also threw for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Rocky Hill last Friday. They never let Avon get on the board and left with a 25-0 win. The Terriers have beaten the Falcons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.
Cromwell/Portland better keep an eye on Tyshawn Dominique. He was instrumental in Rocky Hill's win, rushing for 131 yards on only 15 carries. Those 131 rushing yards gave Dominique a new career-high.
Rocky Hill was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Cromwell/Portland fell to 8-1. As for Rocky Hill, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's matchup: Cromwell/Portland has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 374.7 total yards per game. It's a different story for Rocky Hill, though, as they've been averaging only 192.8 total yards. Will Cromwell/Portland be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Terriers flip the script?
Cromwell/Portland beat Rocky Hill 17-6 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Terriers' Joey Motes, who rushed for 143 yards and one TD. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be easier for the Panthers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
