WETHERSFIELD, Conn. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Wethersfield (Conn.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Eagles defeated
Hartford Public (Hartford, Conn.) 40-16.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Zac Livingston in the second quarter, the Eagles were up 21-8 at the half.
Wethersfield grew its lead to 32 points entering the fourth quarter. WHS scored three times in the third, including once on a
Whit DeVaux touchdown pass to
Austin Pallone.
Luke Ocasio stood out for the Eagles in the win. The senior wide receiver caught one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
Wethersfield came in allowing an average of 25.6 points per game this season.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Owls took, 40-14.
The loss was the third in a row for Hartford Public.
In a Central Connecticut II East game next week Wethersfield (3-3) takes on Fermi, and Hartford Public (2-4) will go up against Edwin O. Smith also in a Central Connecticut II East game.
