On Saturday, the Arbor View Aggies faced the Liberty Patriots in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Arbor View took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty. Arbor View was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Liberty apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Aggies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pharaoh Compton, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Compton hasn't dropped below two blocks for ten straight games. Maximus Romero was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Arbor View were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only racked up four assists.
Liberty was led to victory by Jace Aquiningoc and Tyus Thomas. Aquiningoc scored 14 points, while Thomas scored 18 points. Aquiningoc's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Riley, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Arbor View's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Liberty, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Arbor View the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Silverado at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. One thing working in Silverado's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to face off against Mojave at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mojave focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
