The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights lost against the Grand County Red Devils back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Merit Preparatory Academy was beaten by Grand County 71-34. Merit Preparatory Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.
Merit Preparatory Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lizbeth Diaz, who scored 12 points. Malyssa Moore was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Grand County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cadence Kasprick led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kasprick has scored at least 25% of Grand County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsleigh Kasprick, who scored 17 points along with six steals.
Merit Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-1. As for Grand County, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Merit Preparatory Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Tabiona at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Tabiona's defense has only allowed 26 points per game this season, so Merit Preparatory Academy's offense will have their work cut out for Merit Preparatory Academy. Grand County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Piute at 10:00 a.m. on December 15th. Piute is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
