Cuero is 3-0 against the Rockets since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cuero Gobblers will look to defend their home court against the John F. Kennedy Rockets at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cuero has 18 straight wins, the Rockets have 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cuero proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 40) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against La Vernia and snuck past 45-43.
Cuero's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubrey Bowles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Bowles has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydie Cooper, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for John F. Kennedy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 32-13 loss to the Buffaloes on Tuesday.
Cuero pushed their record up to 30-3 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for John F. Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-27.
Everything came up roses for Cuero against the Rockets in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 78-7 win. With Cuero ahead 45-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.
