If The Haddam-Killingworth Cougars were feeling good off their 41-0 takedown of the Windsor Locks/Suffield/East Granby Raiders last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Haddam-Killingworth fell 48-36 to North Branford on Friday. Haddam-Killingworth was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Branford apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Tommy Hansen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Branford, rushing for 283 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Hansen's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. AJ Sigel was another key contributor, rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Haddam-Killingworth's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for North Branford, their win was their third straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Haddam-Killingworth will take on Cromwell/Portland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cromwell/Portland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Haddam-Killingworth in Connecticut (Cromwell/Portland is ranked 44th, while Haddam-Killingworth is ranked 130th). As for North Branford, they will head out on the road to face off against Valley Regional/Old Lyme at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley Regional/Old Lyme is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
