The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Trinity Catholic Celtics at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Berkeley Prep has three straight victories, Trinity Catholic has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Berkeley Prep proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Wesley Chapel 2-1.
Berkeley Prep got a great performance from Rivers Kurland as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Kurland has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Josh Herrmann, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Trinity Catholic scored first but ultimately less than Trenton in their game on Friday. They fell 10-7 to the Tigers.
Trinity Catholic also got a good showing from Jay Carter, who pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.
At the plate, Cooper Wilson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Matthew Wetherell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Berkeley Prep's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Trinity Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Berkeley Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trinity Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Berkeley Prep's way against Trinity Catholic when the teams last played back in February, as Berkeley Prep made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Berkeley Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
