The Starkville Academy Volunteers waltzed into their game Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They escaped with a win against East Webster by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Starkville Academy also won the last time the pair played on Thursday.
Starkville Academy found their leader in underclassman Raylee Jones, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Starkville Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for East Webster, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Starkville Academy will take on Bayou Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Bayou Academy is ranked 59th, while Starkville Academy is ranked 61st). As for East Webster, they will play host again and welcome Eupora, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eupora is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
