Newton-Conover hasn't had much luck against Maiden recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Red Devils will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Newton-Conover's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.
Newton-Conover had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-point drubbing they dealt Foard on Friday. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 35-14 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Newton-Conover's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Timothy Mehalic, who picked up 115 receiving yards and two scores. Those two receiving touchdowns gave Mehalic a new career-high. Jeremiah Pope was another key back, rushing for 118 yards on only 13 carries.
Newton-Conover was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Maiden had taken East Lincoln down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The matchup between the Blue Devils and the Mustangs didn't end well, with the Blue Devils falling 35-21.
Newton-Conover will have to keep a close watch on Shannon Wingate and Javien Seagle, a pair of players who had a big impact on Maiden's prior game. Wingate rushed for 109 yards, while Seagle picked up 68 receiving yards and one touchdown. Seagle was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 56 yards.
Maiden's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Newton-Conover, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Newton-Conover has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 273.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Maiden struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Newton-Conover took a serious blow against Maiden when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 48-14. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Red Devils were down 27-7.
