The University Prep Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Durham Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
University Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Central Valley as they made off with an 11-3 win.
Rylynn Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Aubrey Caudell was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Cora Hawkins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Durham made easy work of Quincy on Tuesday and carried off a 14-1 victory. Durham might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Sadie Sjolund and Annalee Horn made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Sjolund tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Horn pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Sjolund has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Sjolund went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Horn went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Clare Osbon and Isla Stephens did most of the damage at the plate: Osbon went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Stephens went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ashley Spence was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
Durham hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quincy struck out seven times.
Durham has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for University Prep, their record is now 11-16.
University Prep got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Durham by a conclusive 16-3 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
